Apple Introduces App Store Video Previews

As of today (September 17th, 2014), app developers will be able to add app preview videos to help them stand out in the crowded iOS app store.  This seems like a natural evolution, given the explosion of business video to help potential customers increase their understanding of exactly how software, or in this case an app, works.

The video will be shown as the first image on the app store product page, with screenshots to follow.  There are some guidelines to follow when creating your app video:

  • The video must be between 15 and 30 seconds
  • No humans can be in the video
  • No hands in the video (to swipe between screens, etc.)

Music, voiceovers, text and other graphics are good to go.  It’s important to note that you can only create the video in one language, which will be used in all countries that your app is available.

Here is some more detailed info about app videos, directly from the folks at Apple.
